Netflix Enables Streaming Of Partially Downloaded Movies And Shows On Android, iOS Coming Soon

Netflix now allows Android users to watch movies and shows they're saving without waiting to download the full file. From now on, movies and shows can be streamed even while the download is ongoing. Earlier, users had to complete a download before being able to watch it. Users can start watching a show after starting the download in a public space like an airport or something like that, later finish downloading the entire episode or movie when they regain access to Internet and continue watching the rest of it. This means that if you were to start downloading a movie before a flight, you'll be able to watch it in airplane mode while on the go, even if the download did not finish. "We've improved the Netflix download experience so you can now start watching The Mitchells vs The Machines or the next episode of Luis Miguel - The Series even if it hasn't completed downloading. Once you've regained a strong enough connection, you can choose to finish the download and keep watching - avoiding those surprise notices that you've gone over your data limits," Netflix explained in a blog post. The feature is limited to Android smartphones and tablets for now, although Netflix said that it will be testing this for iOS in the coming months. The company also said that its Downloads for You feature, which automatically downloads titles based on your watch history, and started testing on Android in February, will also be getting a test on iOS "soon".
