  • Decent performance
  • Good front camera performance
  • Bad
  • Display is not the sharpest
  • Software has ads, bloatware apps
  • Weak details from rear camera
  • Lacks 5G

The Realme Narzo N53 has been launched as the company's new budget offering. It sits below the recently launched Narzo N55, which is a rebadged version of the Realme C55 (Review). The new Narzo N53 borrows the 'Mini Capsule' feature from its elder sibling, which is Realme's take on the iPhone 14 Pro's (Review) Dynamic Island implementation. The N53 also seems to have taken some design inspiration from Apple's flagship phone. Is the Narzo N53 worth considering? Here is our review to help you decide.

  • Good
  • Premium-looking design
  • Bright 90Hz LCD panel
  • Fast wired charging
  • Good daylight imaging
  • 3.5mm headphone port
  • Bad
  • Lacks 5G connectivity
  • Software stutters and lags
  • Mini Capsule feature is half-baked
  • Too much bloatware, spammy notifications
  • Battery only lasts a day

Realme's C55 got the world's attention when it was first launched in Indonesia for being the first Android smartphone with a copy of Apple's Dynamic Island feature. Realme has branded this software feature as "Mini Capsule". Now, the company brought this budget smartphone to India, but it's already clear that Mini Capsule is not the most interesting thing about it – in fact it was barely talked about during the launch event. What will get this phone a lot of attention in India is its pricing and its design.

The sub-Rs 25,000 smartphone segment is now attractive for companies. With inflation, plus the cost of components rising, manufacturers are launching their best smartphones for under Rs. 25,000 instead of what we used to get for under Rs. 20,000 a couple of years ago. Competition out there is brutal, with the likes of Xiaomi, iQoo, Samsung and Realme refreshing their lineups regularly to attract more buyers. Realme, which is one of the top five smartphone players in India, is no different. The company has launched the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G as its latest mid-range smartphone, and it boasts of some premium specifications.
